Prism is a triangular optical product made of glass or crystal that allows light reflection or penetration to shorten the light path.
Principle
Transparent objects with at least two optical planes capable of refracting light must not have at least one pair of faces parallel, and the material of the prism must not be equal to the refractive index of air in order for light refraction to occur.
Various Shapes of Prism
Light Reflection of Prism
Effect
Passing light through Prism gives us a diverse spectrum of light, and reflecting light into Prism allows us to use internal reflection to form a path of light at various angles.
Applcable fields
Spectroscopy to analyze the structure and composition of substances that emit and absorb light
Binoculars/submersibles/ telescopes, etc. using the internal reflective properties of light.
